Bullet Journal

As you can see from my previous posts, I really enjoy writing about all things baking, fashion and beauty, along with my favourite collections. But for today’s post I decided to do something a little bit different and write about a product that I have come to love using recently.

I discovered the Bullet Journal system a few months ago, while I was researching different kinds of journal layouts as I really wanted to begin a few different notebooks including a dream journal, daily log journal and a planner. When I found out that the Bullet Journal system combined all three and more, I was beyond excited to start my own. It took me a little while to understand how it actually worked as the video on the original website was quite confusing for me, as I hadn’t heard most of the terms before. You can find the video here.

Weekly Layout

While researching different page layouts for my Bullet Journal, I spent quite a bit of time watching various videos on YouTube that would help me to set up my own notebook, and found the most helpful videos on a channel called BohoBerry. A lot of my layouts were inspired by these videos and by other photos on Pinterest. I really love all the layout ideas that I have seen on Pinterest and I can only hope that one day my journal can look as creative and beautiful one day. In the meantime I am really happy with how my layouts look as I am a huge fan of the simple, rainbow look.

Daily Workout Layout

Since I started using my Bullet Journal, I’ve found that I have begun to be more organised and I actually wake up excited to write in it every morning. A few of my favourite layouts include my daily workout and my monthly tracker. Although there are still quite a few days where I don’t complete everything on my lists, I’ve found that I am more likely to attempt to get them done, than if I didn’t use these pages.

Social Media Tracker

This journal really encourages me to be productive each day and one of my favourite parts is getting to set up the next weekly layouts and making them as colourful as possible. I highly recommend this journaling system if you’re the kind of person who makes a lot of different lists or you just want to be more organised. It is so much fun to create and I really enjoy being able to write about my day, and tick off everything I completed, and I think that is an incredible thing to look back on in a few years time, and remember all the exciting things that happened throughout this year.

Chocolate Orange Mousse

When it comes to baking, my favourite thing to make is dessert and one of my absolute favourite desserts is chocolate mousse. When I discovered this recipe in a brochure from one of my local supermarkets, I was beyond excited to try it and rushed out the next day to buy the ingredients. This recipe makes quite a large amount of mousse and would create the perfect serving size for 4-5 people. When I made this dessert, the end result wasn’t quite the colour or taste that I was expecting from the recipe but it was delicious none the less.

You Will Need:

  • 1/4 cup Dark Chocolate
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 125g cream cheese, softened
  • 2 teaspoons gelatine
  • 300ml cream, whipped

What To Do:

  1. Combine the dark chocolate, boiling water, brown sugar and cream cheese in a large bowl.
  2.  Mix with an electric beater until smooth and creamy.
  3. Sprinkle the gelatine over the orange juice and leave to swell for 5 minutes.
  4. Once swelled, gently heat to melt the gelatine.
  5.  Beat the gelatine into the cream cheese mixture and fold in the whipped cream.
  6. Spoon into serving glasses and place in the refrigerator to set for at least an hour.

I hope you enjoy this recipe and would love to know if you try it out πŸ™‚

Denim Dungarees

Over the past few weeks I have spent alot of time scrolling through the amazing images on Pinterest to find Summer outfit inspiration, so that I have a few ideas in mind when the weather starts to warm up. One item of clothing that I have been super obsessed with are dungarees or overalls. I have pinned so many to my Spring/Summer inspiration board, in a range of colours but my favourite is definitely the classic denim ones.

This led me on a search through so many clothing websites and eventually I found this pair from H&M on a secondhand website for only $10. I was absolutely stoked with this find and I began to make a mental list of tops and shoes that would look amazing with them. When they arrived, the colour was a bit too dark for my liking, so I decided to place them in a bit of bleach for a few hours to lighten them up a bit. I also really wanted to add a few rips on the pockets to give them more of a worn look, but got a bit scared that I would wreck them, so I haven’t gotten round to this yet.

My sister was nice enough to be my model for this blog post and I think she did a fantastic job of showing each angle of this outfit. She is wearing H&M dungarees, a striped long sleeve from Country Road and white Converse. I can imagine wearing these dungarees with a black long sleeve and tights during Spring or a white cropped t-shirt with sneakers during Summer. I am already looking for more pairs of dungarees to add to my collection in colours such as black and white. All in allΒ I am really happy with how they turned out in the end and am very excited to wear them during the Summer months.

Top 5 Fragrances

One thing I like to do when I go shopping is to head into the fragrance section and test out a few that I really like the look of. I tend to be drawn to the brightly coloured bottles and deliciously Summery scents, which is why I have so many in my collection, but occasionally I will find one more on the spicy, Wintery side that I feel needs to be a new addition. In the list below you will find more Summery scents instead of Wintery ones, but I have gathered a list of my top 5 fragrances to share with you today. Lets get started!

Givenchy – Live Irresistable

One of my absolute favourite fragrances in my collection is Live Irresistable by Givenchy. I usually only wear it in Summer as it is quite a tropical scent, but there have been times on warmer Winter days that this has felt appropriate for wearing. Its’ scent is an incredible mix of fruits, flowers and spices. It contains the delicious scents of pineapple, rose, amber and vanilla, along with a few other ingredients to really bring the Summer months alive. I really love the packaging of this fragrance, the triangle shaped bottle with textured glass gives it a sense of class and the pink colouring of the fragrance itself is amazing. Another thing I really like about this scent is that is faced by Amanda Seyfried, who is one of  my favourite actresses.

Elizabeth Arden – Green Tea and Nectarine Blossom

My number one fragrance at the moment would definitely have to be Green Tea and Nectarine Blossom by Elizabeth Arden. Although this one is also a Summer scent, there has been one or two times where I have been drawn to wear it during the Winter months. This is an extremely sweet fragrance and I find that it really captures the feeling of the warm air and delicious fruit in Summer. Its’ scent is a delicious Summer fruit smell with subtle notes of green tea. It contains the incredible scents of peach, nectarine, green tea and other exotic fruits with quite a musky base. The bottle of this fragrance really speaks for itself, it is a really beautiful peachy orange colour and it covered in gorgeous pictures of blossoms and leaves. It has a very Summery vibe to it.

Dolce & Gabbana – Floral Drops

My first designer fragrance that I added to my collection was Floral Drops by Dolce and Gabbana. I was immeditely drawn to this one because of its amazing floral scent and thought it would be perfect for wearing over the warm Summer months. I found that this fragrance wasn’t particularly sweet but had quite a fresh scent, almost like stepping foot into a field of bright flowers and fresh air. It contains the gorgeous scents of daffodils, water lilies and an array of other white flowers on a base of musk and sandalwood. It is perfect if you want a scent for Summer but aren’t a huge fan of extremely sweet scents. Another thing that drew my attention to this fragrance was the bottle, I really like the flower shaped lid and the addition of a black bow added a sense of formality to the bottle. I also really liked the mint green colour of the fragrance itself.

One Direction – Our Moment

One of the very first fragrances I received was Our Moment by One Direction. I really enjoy the sweetness of this scent, and feel that it is perfect for Spring/Summer time. It is a quite a fruity and floral scent that perfectly captures the feeling of the warmer months. It contains the delicious scents of pink grapefruit, forest berry and jasmine along with a few other fruity and floral scents on a musky base. The bottle of this fragrance is quite pretty in a diamond shape with a gem and tulle crown for the lid. I really like the shade of pink that has been used to colour the fragrance itself.

Burberry London

This is quite a recent addition to my collection. I came across it online while I searching for the male version as a Christmas present and knew that I had to get the female version for myself. Although this is definitely a spicy scent for the Winter months it is also quite a Christmassy scent and as Christmas is during the Summertime in New Zealand, I find myself torn as to when to wear it. Its’ scent is quite warm and cinnamon filled, so it is perfect for the colder months. It contains the delicious scents of rose, honeysuckle and jasmine on a musky, sandalwood base. I also really love the packaging of this fragrance as I find the plaid fabric is quite Christmassy and Wintery and I find the plain, rectangle bottle is quite classy and sophisticated.
