I hope you have enjoyed the baking posts over the past few weeks, I had alot of fun making them for you (especially tasting the end result!). I thought it was about time I got back into some more lifestyle based blog posts and what better way to start things off than with a post dedicated to my current go to Autumn outfit. I am really obsessed with this outfit at the moment and although it is mostly black, I feel that the pop of colour from the shoes (which you may remember from this post) really brings this outfit together.
I feel like a classic black leather jacket is a wardrobe staple that most people have somewhere in their wardrobe. I recently talked about where I got mine a few weeks ago in this post and I have worn it almost everyday since, I love how versatile it is and it really completes so many of my outfits, I don’t know how I managed to put together outfits without it!
I bought this striped long sleeve top from Dotti for about $13.00 a few weeks ago and as soon as I tried it on, I didn’t want to take it off. I had actually been looking for something similar for about 2 years but never found anything that I really liked, so I was so happy when I saw this hanging on the rack with a half price sign (yay for sales!). I do already own a white long sleeve with black stripes but I really like the classic look of black with white stripes as it’s not so in your face on a dull Autumn or Winter day. There is no doubt in my mind that this top will continue to be one of my favourite purchases of the year.
I like to pair this outfit with a pair of black highwaisted leah jeans that I also got from Dotti earlier in the year for around $40.00. I love these jeans as they are cropped slightly so they are the perfect length for my legs and I’ve found that they’ve kept their colour for much longer than most of my black jeans have. I will continue to buy these jeans as long as Dotti has them in stock because I love them so much.
The shoes I like to wear to add a bit of colour to the outfit are my red boots with gold heels that some of you may remember from last years Autumn outfit post. I find that they really pull the outfit together and add a great focal point (the loud clip clop of the heels on the concrete is also guaranteed to get alot of attention haha). The thing I like most about these boots is that when we are lucky enough to have some sun, the gold tends to catch the light and flickers as I walk. I think these boots may continue to be part of my go to Autumn and Winter outfits as I really like being able to dress in dark colours and really have the shoes do all the talking.

I hope you had an amazing Easter weekend catching up with your families and eating way too much chocolate! I decided to do another baking post this week to celebrate Anzac Day (if you don’t know what this is, I talked about it a little bit in last year’s post which you can find here). I wanted to try baking something a little bit different as I have made quite alot of cupcakes over the past few months and felt that it was time for a bit of a change. I have seen a few recipes similar to this on Pinterest and was really intrigued by it, so I decided to test it out myself and was really pleased with the result. I decided to use my Anzac biscuit recipe from last year for the base, as I really liked how they turned out and thought it would be perfect for this recipe. Let’s get started!
You Will Need:
- 100g butter
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
- 1 1/2 cups rolled oats
- 1 cup desicated coconut
- 1 cup plain flour
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 3/4 cup caster sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 tablespoons boiling water
- 395g tin sweetened condensed milk
- 30g butter
- 2 tablespoons golden syrup
- 150g dark chocolate
- 1 tablespoon butter
What To Do:
- Preheat your oven to 160 degrees celcius and line a slice tin with baking paper.
- Melt the butter and golden syrup together in a pot over medium heat.
- Place the rolled oats, coconut, flour and both sugars into a mixing bowl and stir together until combined.
- Place the boiling water into a small bowl and sprinkle over the baking soda, stirring until combined.
- Pour the baking soda mixture into the butter and mix until combined.
- Slowly add the dry ingredients into the butter mixture and mix well.
- Pour the anzac biscuit mixture into your lined slice tin and spread evenly.
- Place into the oven for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
- While your base is cooling, add your butter, condensed milk and golden syrup into into a pot over low heat and stir for 15 minutes until golden and thick (make sure to keep an eye on this and constantly stir, otherwise you may end up burning it).
- Allow the caramel mixture to cool slightly before pouring over the base and place in the refrigerator to set.
- Place your butter and dark chocolate into a bowl and microwave in 30 second bursts until melted and smooth.
- Allow to cool slightly before pouring over the set caramel and spread evenly.
- Place the slice into the refrigerator to set for about an hour before slicing.

The recipe I’m going to share with you today is one of my absolute favourite things to make around this time of year. Although I have done quite a few cupcake recipes lately, there’s always room to squeeze in one more, especially when it comes to Easter. I didn’t really have a particular plan in mind while making these, but they are definitely one of the best I have made so far, in my opinion. I hope you enjoy this recipe and I would love to know what your favourite Easter treat to make is 🙂 Let’s get started!
You Will Need:
- 3/4 cup & 2 tablespoons plain flour
- 1/4 cup & 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1 teaspoon vanilla essence
- 1/2 cup boiling water
- 100g butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups icing sugar
- 1-2 teaspoons vanilla essence
- 1-2 tablespoons milk
- 1 large bar milk or dark chocolate
- 1 bag of mini eggs
What To Do:
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees celcius and line a cupcake tin with paper cases.
- Sift your dry ingredients into a large bowl, then add both sugars and stir well.
- Add the egg, vanilla essence, milk and oil and beat with an electric mixer until combined.
- Pour in the boiling water and mix until just combined. Keep in mind that the mixture will will be very runny.
- Transfer the mixture into a large jug and pour into the cupcake cases until they are 3/4 full.
- Place in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until cooked.
- Remove from the oven and place onto a wire rack to cool.
- While the cupcakes are cooling, you can start preparing your decorations by grating about 2 rows of a large chocolate bar.
- To make your icing, place your butter into a large bowl and mix with an electric mixer on a high speed for about 5 minutes.
- Add the icing sugar and mix slowly until a smooth icing starts to form.
- Add the vanilla essence and milk and mix on a high speed for about 10 minutes or until your icing becomes white.
- Using a star nozzle, pipe the icing into a swirl on the centre of each cooled cupcake.
- Sprinkle with grated chocolate and place 3 mini eggs into the centre of each swirl.

With Autumn in full swing here in New Zealand, I thought it was the perfect time to share a few of my Autumn wardrobe staples with you. Although Summer is by far my favourite season, I absolutely love shopping and creating clothes for Autumn and Winter. I love picking out new jeans, jackets and jumpers (especially fluffy ones). Most of my staples for this Autumn are actually really good condition secondhand items and I really like that I’ve managed to get some nice items that were only a fraction of the price of brand new items. Let’s get started!
Leopard Print Boots
I got the inspiration for these boots after they appeared in my Pinterest feed near the middle of January and Zoella posted a picture on Instagram of her heeled leopard boots. I instantly fell in love with the trend and searched so many shoe websites to find a pair. Unforunately every pair I found was priced around the $150 mark and there was no way I could rationalise spending that much on a pair of shoes. So I took to Trade Me to see if anything more affordable would come up and that was when I stumbled across this pair for only $15 that the previous owner had only worn once. I have worn these boots almost every day since I bought them and I absolutely love them.
Black Leather Jacket
I got my first leather jacket about 6 years ago second hand from my best friend. I loved it to pieces and wore it so many times, however it was more of a hooded bomber jacket style and in the last few years the biker jacket style has been more on trend. Early last year I made an attempt to turn my leather jacket into a biker style and everythng was going well until I got to turning the hood into a collar..I tried so many ways to get it work but eventually gave up after all of my attempts failed and took to the internet to find a replacement. As faux leather jackets tend to cost around $80 brand new, I took to Trade Me to see if I could find a cheaper alternative. I found this jacket for $20 that had never been worn by its previous owner and have worn this almost every day since. I’ve found that it makes a great outfit paired with the leopard boots, a pair of black jeans and a black or grey hoodie.
This is actually an item that I bought last Autumn from Glassons for about $25, however I am stil loving it this year and decided to include in this list as I plan on searching for a few more this year. As much as I love dresses, I don’t really wear them that often in Summer as it gets quite windy here and I constantly have to hold them down. But I find Autumn is a great time for me wear dresses as I can throw on a pair of thick tights underneath and as this dress is quite slim at the bottom, I dont have to worry about it being blown up by the wind. I really love that this dress is made out of a thick jersey knit fabric and has long sleeves, as it keeps me quite warm without having to wear alot of layers. I like to pair it with my leather jacket, some tights and my black leather Chelsea boots.
